Michael Mcguire

Michael R. McGuire 69 of Carmel, passed away at his home on Sunday, October 27, 2013. Mike was born April 20, 1944 In St. Louis, MO to the late Harold W. and Irene A. McGuire. He was a graduate of the University of Missouri-Columbia. Mike worked for General Motors for 34 years. He spent several years in Engineering, Quality and Manufacturing in Anderson, IN before becoming Plant Manager of Delphi Componentes Mecanicos de Matamoros in Matamoros, Mexico. Mike finished his career as Director of Manufacturing Engineering in Troy, Michigan. In Mike's retirement he enjoyed golfing, traveling, automobile racing, sport cars in general and spending time with his family. Mike was a member, deacon and trustee at Hazel Dell Christian Church, was an honorary alumnus of Indiana State University, was in charge of the Over the Hill Gang golf league at Pebble Brook Golf Club and was past president to the Pebble Brook Home Owners Association. Funeral services will be at 3:00 pm Saturday, November 2 at Hazel Dell Christian Church, where family and friends are invited to gather from 5:00 pm to 8:00 pm on Friday, November 1, and one hour prior to the service on Saturday. Mike is survived by his wife, Mary Ellen McGuire; a sisters-in-law, Jane Coleman and Dr. Linda Larsen-Smeltzer; brothers-in-law, Eric Smeltzer, Carl Smeltzer and Dave Coleman; one niece, Emelie Coleman; three nephews, Ian Smeltzer, Andrew Smeltzer and David Coleman. He was preceded in death by his brother, Ken McGuire. In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Hazel Dell Christian Church, the ISU Michael and Mary McGuire Scholarship Fund or the IU Simon Cancer Center for Pancreatic Cancer.
