Michael Irvin Wray, 70, of Indianapolis, passed away on Saturday, October 2, 2021. He was born on May 22, 1951 in Indianapolis to the late Irvin J. and Joan L. (Sage) Wray. Mike was a 1969 graduate of Howe High School and worked in various roles for the city of Speedway and Clermont including jobs with the police department and street department. He also worked for Allison Transmission and retired as a security officer at the Indianapolis International Airport.
Mike was an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed time hunting and fishing. He took an annual trip to Florida with his family when his sons were younger, and most recently enjoyed his outings to Flapjacks Restaurant where he loved visiting with the staff as much as the food.
Mike is survived by his sons, Josh (Lauren) Wray and Brian Wray; grandchildren, Kyla Wray, Brahm Wray, Jameson Pace and Faye Morris. He is also survived by his siblings, Pam Wray and Danny (Sharon) Wray; along with nieces and nephews, Tammy (David) Shields, Elizabeth Shields, David Shields, Stephen Wray and Phillip Wray; and great niece and nephew, Kennedy and Zeppelin Wray. Mike leaves behind his canine companion, Jock. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ursula.
Visitation will be held on Thursday, October 7, 2021 from 3-7pm at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. Funeral services will take place Friday at 10am, also at the funeral home. Entombment will follow in Washington Park East Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be given to the American Cancer Society.
