Michael P. Finnigan, 61, of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on June 13, 2024. He was born on February 6, 1963, in Indianapolis, Indiana to his parents Donald and Beverly Finnigan. Mike graduated from Lawrence Central High School in 1981. He spent the last 32 years as a welder for Smock Material Handling and a fireman with the Lawrence Township and Indianapolis Fire Department. He was honored as the IFD Community Service Firefighter of the Year in 2023.

Mike could best be remembered for his love of his family and service to others. His greatest joys were spending time with his family, working on endless projects, his love of travel, the outdoors and motorsports. Their children were avid swimmers, he was a USA Swimming official and volunteered countless hours with Warren Aquatics Club and Warren Central High School. Mike was also a board member and bus captain for 14 trips with Indy Honor Flight. As his friends and family can attest, there are innumerable unseen examples of his servant heart.

Left behind to cherish his memory are his loving wife of 30 years, Toni Finnigan; his children, Conner (Kate Dickerson) and Paige Finnigan; his siblings, Pat (Pete, deceased) Gramling and Brian (Dodi) Finnigan; his in-laws, Richard and Linda Stephenson, Paul and Jamie Stephenson, and David Stephenson (Lisa Rosebrock-Thomas); his nieces and nephews, Colleen (Jordan) Susnick and Bill (Michelle) Gramling; Sean and Katie Finnigan; Justin (Kim), Jesse (Stacie Kelley), and Megan Stephenson; Bobby Stephenson; several great-nieces and nephews; and his Murphy family. Mike will forever be loved by his dogs, Piper and Willow.

He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Margaret, and dear friends Mary Helen and Whitey Murphy.

A memorial gathering will be held on Friday, June 21, 2024, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, Indiana, 46229, from 11AM-2PM with a memorial service beginning at 2PM.
