Michael Douglas Batic, 61, of Indianapolis, passed away Sunday, July 31, 2016.
He attended Cathedral High School and Purdue University. He was a member of St. Michael and St. Monica Catholic Church parishes.
As a vocation Mike worked in property management. His avocations were many, most notably he devoted countless hours to volunteer service. He had a particular love of soccer and served as a coach, a league director and as a state commissioner for youth soccer for which he was commended.
He was a staunch Purdue Boilermaker fan and enjoyed antiques, poker and fine bourbon.
Mike was preceded in death by his parents Emil (Ike) Batic and Ruth (Bert) Krug Batic.
He is survived by his wife and companion of 41 years, Marjorie Vonnegut Batic; three children; Carrie, Erin (Scott) Yanney, and Scott; one grandchild, Cameron Yanney; and brother, Mark (Rebecca) Batic.
A visitation in celebration of Mike’s life will be held on Monday, Aug. 8 from 4 to 8 p.m. (family remarks at 6:30) at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd., West Drive, Indianapolis. Good food, drink and memories will be shared.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held Tuesday, Aug. 9 at 10:30 a.m. at St. Michael Catholic Church, 3354 West 30th Street, Indianapolis, followed by entombment at Crown Hill Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society.
