Michael Craig Ervin, 72, of Lexington, Kentucky passed away at his residence on August 1, 2023. He was born in Oakland, California on December 17, 1950, to parents Earl Ervin and Evelyn Rozzel. Michael was a free spirit who marched to the beat of his own drum. He was truly one of a kind. Michael was a self-employed welder for many years. He was also a very talented artist, practicing in different mediums. He specialized in welding sculptures and recently in painting large, beautiful paintings. His passion for art allowed him opportunities such as teaching art to children who were less fortunate. His love for art was huge, however the love he had for his fur baby, Camille Frances, may have been even bigger. Michael will be missed sorely by all the lives he has touched.
Michael is survived by his loving mother, Evelyn Rozzel; sister, Debra (Christopher Johnson) Hizer Johnson; brother, John Eastham; and son, Joshua Ervin.
He is preceded in death by his stepfather, Hugh Rozzel.
A visitation will be held on Friday, August 11, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan—Memorial Park, 9350 E. Washington St. Indianapolis, IN, 46229, from 1PM-2PM. A funeral service will begin at 2PM. Michael will be laid to rest in Memorial Park Cemetery.
