Michael Clarence Mills

Much beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend, Michael (Mike) Clarence Mills of Fishers, Indiana, died December 19, 2021. He was born July 5, 1950 in Hartland, Maine. His parents were Kenneth and Mary (Newcomb) Mills of Newport, Maine. Mike attended the Newport school system and graduated from Newport High School in 1968. He attended the University of Maine in Orono, Maine, where he received a bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering Technology. He worked for Great Northern Paper Company in Millinocket, Maine, as a mechanical engineer, and for Georgia Pacific in New Augusta, Mississippi as a maintenance superintendent. Mike served six years in the United States Navy, Naval Security Group, where he met and married his wife Paula Hackney in 1975. Mike was a longtime active member of his beloved American Legion and served in several offices including Past Adjutant of Post 105 in Newport, Maine, Past Commander of Post 80 in Millinocket, Maine and served 14 years as an officer at Post 470 in Fishers, Indiana, where he was affectionately known as “Cubby”. He is survived by his wife, Paula, his daughter Michelle Mills, his daughter Elizabeth Mills, his grandson, Liam Michael Gonya, all of Fishers, Indiana and his brother, Barry Mills and family of Blue Hill, Maine. No public viewing or funeral will be held. In lieu of flowers, please donate to ALS research/charities or to Veteran charities.
