Michael was born March 9, 1942, in Indianapolis Indiana. He was the third child of Johnson A. Beaven Sr. and Clarissa Fields Beaven. He attended St. Rita grade school, Cathedral High School and graduated from Shortridge High School, 1961. Michael received a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Accounting from Indiana University and Purdue University in Indianapolis (IUPUI).
Michael was united in holy matrimony with Joyce Ann Edwards in 1966. They have three children from this union.
Michael’s professional career began at the Army Finance Center. He was also employed by the U.S. Postal Service. Michael retired from Public Service of Indiana (PSI), currently known as Duke Energy, as an Accountant in 1994. After retirement, he established Beaven and Associates, Builders, Inc, to serve his passion for designing and building quality homes at affordable costs.
Michael was a member of St. Rita’s Catholic Church where he was a member of the Knights of St. Peter Claver offering financial advice as a member of the Finance Committee. He also served on a Capital Funding campaign and was very passionate about the preservation of the church, including the church bell.
Michael was an avid reader and loved history and war films. He longed to join the military but did not qualify due to a tragic childhood injury. He loved R&B, jazz, and classical music. He was also a Notre Dame football fan. He had a great sense of humor and would eagerly share long winded stories about his life adventures. Michael encountered many obstacles throughout his life. Yet he was resilient in achieving many goals and was often astonished by his many blessings. He will be remembered by his giving and loving nature to his family and was always there to listen and give advice. In his later years he enjoyed cooking and caring for his wife Joyce. He referred to her as his “angel”.
Michael Lee Beaven Sr. departed this earthly life May 2, 2025, at the age of eighty-three years and 236 days. Michael was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Johnson A. Beaven Jr and Garry P. Beaven.
He leaves to cherish his memory, his sisters Ferdye G. Bryant, Wanda Sue Edmonson, Mary Ann Bronaugh, and brother Stephen E. Beaven Sr. His children are Michele (Thomas) Peters, Michael L. Beaven Jr. and Nicole (Corey) Williams. He had four grandchildren, Chelsea Ross, Eric Ross, Cameron Ross, and Cailyn Williams, bonus grandchildren and great grandchildren, a host of nieces and nephews, including his cousin Roscoe Fields, other relatives, beloved St. Rita Church family, and friends.
