Michael A. -Butch- Jefferson

January 21, 1947 — October 13, 2017

Michael Alexander Jefferson, (Butch, Mike, Cool Breeze), wasborn January 21, 1947. He departed this life October 13, 2017 at the age of 70.He was preceded in death by his father, Alexander Jefferson.

He was married to his dedicated wife, Maxine Sallier, forover 38 years, however they were together 42 years.

Mike received his education in the Indianapolis PublicSchool System where he graduated from Shortridge High School. He then joinedthe United States Navy Corp, where he received the Vietnam Service Award, theNational Defense Medal, along with various campaign ribbons. He washonorably discharged from the Navy on July 27, 1966.

Michael was employed by United Parcel Services as a FeederDriver for 35 years, and retired in June of 2000. He then worked for the PikeTownship School System as a school bus driver from 2000 to 2009.

He joined Womack C.M.E. Memorial Church in 1980.

Mike loved motorcycles, trucks, fine cars (at the age of 5he could accurately identify the make and model of any car he saw), and allkinds of electronic gadgets. He was a sports enthusiast, and was ado-or-die, win-or-lose, Colts fan. One of his childhood friendssummarized him as being, “A one of a kind, stand up guy.”

Michael was dedicated to his family and in loving memorywill be cherished by his loving wife, Maxine Jefferson; mother, BessieStrayhorn (Neale E) children, Monica Jefferson, Tracey Jefferson, Paul Hartman(Marla), and Delena Jefferson-Price; sisters, Debra Alexis Jefferson, YolondaRene Nelson, Jerrilyn Thompson, and Regina Marie Strayhorn; 12 grandchildren,12 great-grandchildren, and a host of aunts, nieces, nephews, cousins andfriends.

A Homegoing Celebration of Mike’s life will be held onFriday, October 20 at 12 PM at Flanner Buchanan- Washington Park North, withvisitation from 10 AM until service time. Cremation will follow with intermentat Washington Park Cemetery at a later date. Memorial gifts may be made toSusan G. Komen for the Cure.
