Meta Ann Fritz

Meta Ann (Archer) Fritz, age 84 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away on Thursday, October 23, 2025.

Meta was born on March 25, 1941 in Trenton, New Jersey, a daughter of George Edward and Reba Elizabeth (Taylor) Archer. Meta was the oldest of five girls: Meta, Gertrude, Ruth, Sandra and Sherry. She is preceded in death by Gertrude, Ruth, and Sandra.

Sherry (husband Jack) McConnell of Salt Lake City, Utah survives of the five daughters.

Meta is survived by six children: Debra (husband Brian) Legg of Charlotte, NC, Sandra (husband David) Formanek of Lebanon, PA, Basil (wife Michelle) Fritz Jr. of Albemarle, NC, Barbara (husband Doug) Paluszewski of Indianapolis, Michael (wife Jessica) Fritz of Evans, Georgia and Andrea (husband Jacob) of Danville, IN.

18 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.

Many other family members and relatives also survive.

Meta enjoyed many things throughout her life including puzzles, playing cards, crocheting, baking, spending time with friends, and always making new ones. She was also very involved in her church over the years, and dedicated many years to The Salvation Army, with her late husband Basil.

She never met a stranger. Most importantly Meta was a loving mother, grandmother, great grandmother, relative and friend to many who will be fondly remembered and greatly missed.

A memorial gathering will be held on Monday, November 3, 2025 at Flanner Buchanan – Decatur Township, located at 5463 Kentucky Avenue, Indianapolis, IN 46221.

Visiting and gathering will be held from 12:00 PM to 2:00 PM, followed by a Memorial Service to honor Meta’s life at 2:00 PM. Pastor Neil Mack will officiate.

Per Meta’s wishes, Cremation Rites will be accorded in Indianapolis and her earthly cremated remains will be laid to rest at a later date at Frenchtown Cemetery in Frenchtown, New Jersey next to her husband Basil Reese Fritz (who passed away in 1979).
