Merrill Dean Dooley

Merrill Dean Dooley, 99, Indianapolis, passed away on June 27, 2022. He was born in Marion, IN to the late Paul C and Mildred Dooley.

Dean graduated from Marion High School and DePauw University. He proudly served in the US Navy during WWII. After the war he became a dedicated financial services professional, 34 years with College Life Insurance Company of America and 18 years with Indiana Deferred Compensation Plan.

Dean was preceded in death by his wife of 69 years, Cornelia Tomescu Dooley. He was a devoted father of three; Diane Dooley Gotshall (Matthew), Michael Dean Dooley, and Paula Dooley Strouse (Richard) preceded him in death. M Dean was a grandfather of four, Scott Gotshall (Rachel), Bradley Gotshall (Rachel), Sarah Strouse and Richard Dean Strouse. He has five great grandchildren, Amos, Emory, Norah, Lily and Lucy Gotshall.

Honors and activities include; Sagamore of the Wabash, The Service Club of Indianapolis (past President), The American Legion (past Post Commander).

Services will be held this Saturday, July 2 at Meridian Street United Methodist Church, 5500 N Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN. The calling will begin at 2pm and the service will follow at 3pm.
