Merrill became a member of the Knights of Columbus in 1958 at Council #3228. In his 59 years of service, he served as Grand Knight acquiring 4th degree in Bishop Chatard Assembly #245. He was also active in the Men’s Club at Little Flower Church.

Merrill was a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend. He will be missed dearly by all who were lucky enough to know him.

Merrill is survived by his loving wife, Marylyn Rose (Jines) Blackwell; his sons, Mike (Karen) Blackwell, Dcn. Gary (Lynn) Blackwell, and Donnie (Maria) Blackwell.
