Meredith “Bud” White Compton, 90, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, April 1, 2011. He was married to Alice Mae Clark of Covington, Indiana, in 1946 who preceded him in death in 1987. He is survived by sons Rick (Kathy) of Michigan, Larry (Carol) and Randy (Neddy) of Indianapolis, daughter Nancilee Pearcy of Muncie, his dear friend Liz Chamberlain, 16 grandchildren, 26 great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. He served in the Philippines during WW II. His lifelong profession was in the newspaper and printing industry, including a stint at teaching printing arts at North Central High School in Indianapolis. He served as a counselor at Hoosier Boys State during his teaching years. After retirement, he returned to helping kids as a bus driver for Washington Township and did not quit until he turned 81. He also turned himself into one of the area’s premier piano technicians, feeding his love of playing and singing. He was a member of Millersville Masonic Lodge #126, American Legion, V.F.W., and Lions Club. Visitation will be 4:00 to 8:00 p.m., Monday, April 4 at Flanner & Buchanan Funeral Centers Oaklawn Memory Gardens Chapel , 9700 Allisonville Road with services at the chapel on Tuesday, April 5, at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be at Oaklawn Memory Gardens Cemetery.
