Melvin Leroy Shilling

Melvin L. Shilling, 83, of Indianapolis, passed away on August 2, 2021.

He was born in Heathville, Pennsylvania on September 13, 1937 to the late Norman and Anna Shilling.

Melvin was a U.S. Navy veteran who worked at Naval Avionics for 39 years before retiring.

Melvin was a quiet but strong-willed man. He was always known to help anyone who needed it. He adored spending time with his family, especially his grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Geneva; son, Gregory Shilling; grandchildren, Steven Jr. and Madeline; siblings, Norman Shilling Jr and Florence “Sis” Smith.

He is survived by children, Michael Shilling and Steven Shilling (Sharon); grandchildren, Aaron, Alex, Morgan and Brooklyn; greatgrandchildren, Greyson and Stevi; and brothers, John and Don Shilling.

Visitation will be held Monday, August 9 from 5pm to 7pm. Services will be Tuesday, August 10 at 9am. Melvin will be laid to rest at Washington Park East Cemetery.
