Melvin K. Hayden

MelvinKarlton Hayden was born November 7, 1952 in Indianapolis, Indiana. He was the thirdout of five children, born to the late Aurelia D Jr. and Clarice Hayden.

As a young teenager, he professed his faith in Jesus Christat Pleasant Union Baptist Church. He was a member of New Beginings Ministrywhere he was a SWAT member as well. Melvin’s strong leadership skills and openears to listen lead him to his passion of helping people. He enjoyed workingfor the community where he lived. He was long- time volunteer as well as aboard member in his neighborhood.

Melvin was a 1970 graduate of North Central High School. Hecontinued his studies at Ball State University, where he became a member of theDelta Iota Chapter. As an alumnus, he proudly became a lifetime member of theKappa Alpha Psi Fraternity. He is a graduate of Ivy Tech in HVAC and ITTTechnical Institute where he graduated the top of his class

1984 Melvin was united in Holy Matrimony to Brenda J. Hurd.Together they shared thirty-three years of marital bliss and contentment.

Melvin had the opportunity to touched a lot of lives withpeople he worked with at Kerr Glass, ABB (Westing House), Borg WarnerAutomotive, and Carter Express. He spent 17 years with Carter ExpressIncorporated driving trucks. Being on the open road was something that Melvinloved. Traveling to new places and meeting new people along the way was amhighlight in Melvin’s life. Melvin earned driver of the year two years in a rowin 2013 and again in 2014. He also was a member of the one and two-million mileclub.

Melvin Karlton Hayden departed this life Tuesday June 7,2016.

He leaves to cherish his memory his loving wife Brenda J.Hayden; children, Wayne D. Hurd, Emerson E. Hurd and Quiana M. Rainey. And tengrandchildren, Daisha, Briana, Camryn, Caleb, Riley, Layla, Naziah, EmersonJr., Emon, Amia; brothers, Millard W. (Iris), DeeEdward A. and sister DeloresE. Hayden; mother-in-law; Cassie L. Griffin, sister-in-law, Belva Perry(Freddy), Renee Hayden, aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews. He was preceded indeath by his parents and brother, Aurelia D. Hayden Sr. (father) and ClariceEdwards Hayden (mother) and Michael K. Hayden (brother).
