Melvin Fugate

Melvin Fugate, 56, of Beech Grove, Indiana passed away on September 12, 2021. Melvin was born in Beech Grove, Indiana on June 29, 1965 to the late John and Shirley Fugate. It was simple—If you knew Melvin, you loved him. He didn’t know a stranger and would give anyone the shirt off his back.   Melvin worked tirelessly to provide for his family. He was a hardworking and dedicated husband, father to many, and grandfather. Melvin could be remembered by his wild, free-spirited nature. He enjoyed motorcycles, attending 4-wheel races with his son, camping, fishing and gardening. Melvin will be missed by all the lives he has touched.

Melvin is survived by his wife of 38 years, Darlena Fugate; his children, Tasha Ramey, Jonathan Fugate, Melanie Fugate, and Heather Fugate; his grandchildren, Owen, Noah, Abel, and Anna Ramey, Jesse, Jasmine, Lucy, and Rowe Fugate. He is also survived by numerous extended family, friends, and loved ones.

He is preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Theresa Fugate; and his grandson, Jordan Fugate.

A visitation will be held on Monday, September 20, 2021 from 10AM-2PM at Flanner Buchanan—Washington Park East, 10722 E Washington Street. Indianapolis, Indiana 46229. A funeral service will begin at 2PM. Melvin will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery.
