Melissa Anne Nickey McCoy Montgomery passed away on April 16, 2026. She was born March 15, 1966 in Philadelphia, Mississippi near the Choctaw Indian reservation.
Missi is survived by her husband, Thurman Montgomery, of 37 years, son Marcus (Ali) Montgomery, daughter Mercedes Montgomery, granddaughters Taylor and Sydney Bradley, brothers Mike McCoy, Jody (Terri) McCoy, Randall Nickey and a host of aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is predeceased by her son Mitchell Montgomery, parents John and Marti McCoy, sister-in-law Teresa McCoy, and sisters Gloria Bell and Debbie Joe.
Missi was a competitive swimmer from the age of 6 through high school. She graduated from Danville Community High School in 1984. She continued her education at Indiana Central/University of Indianapolis earning a Bachelor of Science Degree.
She married Thurman in April 1989 and had a career as a Pension Administrator for 20+ years before retiring due to health issues.
Missi found her greatest joy in her family. She loved traveling with her husband and was always present and involved in her children’s lives. She especially treasured time with her granddaughters creating crafts.
Missi was an active board member in her children’s school PTO, an active member of the Danville Browning Club, and a tribal member of the Mississippi Band of Choctaw Indians.
A Celebration of Life is being planned for a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to The Gallery on the Square in Danville, Indiana.
