Melissa Mel' Lynn (Key) Hunt

August 24, 1979 — May 25, 2016

Melissa "Mel" Lynn (Key) Hunt, 36, of Indianapolis, passed away at her home. She was born in Albuquerque, New Mexico on August 24, 1979, where she lived with her parents and her twin brother until she was in junior high, when they moved to Columbus, IN. She went to college at Ball State in Muncie where she earned a Bachelor’s of Arts in Graphic Design (Visual Communications). Her way of looking at the world was through an artist’s eyes: she loved decorating, taking photographs (especially when her children came along), and making the world a more beautiful place. She met her husband, Ryan, while living in Muncie in 2002. They moved to Indianapolis to start their life together, and were married on September 15, 2007. Melissa designed her own wedding dress, and created her invitations, save-the-date cards, and the centerpieces at the reception. The two lived in Meridian-Kessler for over ten years, where they welcomed their son, Oliver, and their daughter, Imogen. The family recently settled in Irvington in a home with a style that she had always loved.

Melissa worked in the advertising department at the Noblesville paper, “Topics,” and worked as a barista at Starbucks before changing careers to work with children as a nanny. When Oliver came along, she continued working as a nanny to him and many other children over the years. After Imogen arrived, she decided to focus on taking care of just her children. She was extremely proud that Oliver was about to graduate from kindergarten. Her personality shines through both of her babies.

Melissa truly enjoyed taking photos of her children, and shared them with all her friends and family through social media. Friends on Instagram, Shutterfly, and Facebook all got to see her beautiful babies, and those outlets helped her to meet more friends around Indianapolis. She loved collecting vintage ads and typesetting equipment, decorating her dream home with both vintage and modern styles. She had many friends, and loved hosting dancing parties, entertaining friends and family, and making the most out of each day. She enjoyed taking walks to the park, spending time outside in the sunshine, and loved walking around their Irvington neighborhood. Melissa was an outgoing and kind person who looked out for others and was a friend to everyone she met.

She is survived by her loving husband, Ryan Hunt; beautiful children, Oliver and Imogen; parents Dennis and Carol Key; twin brother, Nick Key; and grandfather, Perry Key.
