Maynon C. Turner

Maynon C. Turner, 97, Roachdale, Indiana, peacefully passed away from natural causes at home surrounded by family on Thursday, June 17, 2021. May was born on April 8, 1924 in Mayfield, KY to the late Charles W. and Flaudie (Hardison) Crouch. She married her childhood sweetheart, Kermit C. Turner on September 26, 1942. They resided in Indianapolis. They were married 66 years until his passing on April 19, 2009. She was employed by Western Electric for 30 years, retiring in 1981. She was a member of Telephone Pioneers of America.

She loved cooking, baking (mayonnaise cake, chocolate pie, and coconut cake were favorites), flower gardening, and birdwatching. She and Kermit traveled in their motor home extensively and spent many winters living in Naples, Florida. She was a wonderful mother and grandmother who always put her family first. Because she was so loved, she will be greatly missed and remembered by many.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by one brother and two sisters. Survivors include her son, Gary C. (Peggy) Turner; daughters, Sheila L. (David) Deiwert, Sharon Y. (Jerry) Allen, Patricia D. (Ron) Slinker, Terri K. Anderson (Gary Mires); 10 grandchildren, 8 great-grandchildren, 1 great-great-grandson, and numerous nieces and nephews (special nephew, Ronnie McGuire).

Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 27, 2021, from 12 P.M. – 2 P.M. at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park North, 2706 Kessler Blvd. W. Dr, Indianapolis, IN, 46228, with funeral service on Sunday, June 27, 2021, at 2 P.M. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions be made to The Salvation Army, 6060 Castleway West Drive, Indianapolis, IN, 46250-1906 or a favorite charity.
