Maynard Leroy Moore

Maynard Leroy Moore, Jr. 85, of Danville, IN, passed away peacefully at his home on September 25, 2012. In his early years, he served as a lineman for the telephone company and later worked as a telegrapher with the railroad. He retired from Allison's plant No. 8 in 1989 after 34 years of service as a test engineer. Maynard was born November 27, 1926 in Zionsville, IN. He was known as Junior to many as he was the son of Maynard Franklin Moore who was the Zionsville Town Marshal for over 30 years. Maynard graduated from ZHS in 1944, and joined the Army Signal Corps during WW II. He enjoyed photography, water skiing, aircraft and trains and had a sincere love for animals. He was preceded in death by his wife, Barbara Ann (Truax). Maynard is survived by his children, Robert Moore, Frank Moore, Mark (Susan) Cafouras, Rodney (Carol) Cafouras, Kurt Moore, Liz (Marc) Rhodes, Lynne (Bob) Spear; grandchildren, Bobbie, Donie, Carrie, Shaun, Chris, Jason (Robin), Joshua, Abbey, Audrey, Michelle and Eric; great-grandchildren, Olivia and Corbin; sisters, Phebe Lou Markland and Judith Hanson. Services will be on Friday, September 28, 2012 at 1 p.m., with calling from 11 a.m. until service time at Flanner and Buchanan - Speedway. Entombment will follow in West Ridge Park Cemetery.
