Maxine Mae Tarplee, 102, of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, December 20, 2019.
She was born on August 27, 1917 in Rush County, IN to the late Max Herbert and Dollie Mae (Taylor) Tarplee. Although Maxine was disabled from birth, she lived a very long and full life; and touched the hearts of all who knew her. She enjoyed puzzles, sewing and embroidery. Maxine loved to play bingo, bake treats and above all had a deep affection for animals. When she was no longer able to keep pets of her own, her stuffed animals became her devoted companions. Maxine was well known to always have a smile on her face and be wearing as many colorful necklaces as she could find. She was a friend to all of the residents and staff at The Waters, where she has lived the last several years of her life.
Maxine is survived by her brother, Leo Tarplee; nieces and nephews, Sandra Bowman, Linda Hollin, Ronald Tarplee, Cindy Ser, Alex Moore, Connie Tarplee, Leo Tarplee, Jr. and James Tarplee. Maxine was preceded in death by her parents; sister, Alice Moore and her husband, Carl; brother, Rex Tarplee and his wife, Pauline; sister-in-law, Ellen Tarplee.
A funeral service will be held at 11am on Monday, December 30, 2019 at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East. Maxine will be laid to rest with her parents in Star Cemetery in Downeyville, IN immediately following. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Indianapolis Humane Society.
