Mauro Agnelneri, Jr., M.D.
Passed away October 1st after a very brief illness. Mauro was born June 15, 1950, the first of four boys to Mauro and Leonora Agnelneri in Indianapolis. Mauro attended the first of his Jesuit schools, Brebeuf Prep, graduating in 1968. He then attended Notre Dame University, majoring in pre-med, graduating Cum Laude in 1972 and then to Loyola University in Chicago for medical school. During medical school, he married Mary Rebecca "Becky" Neff and they had one daughter, Jessica.
After med school, Mauro and Becky settled in Fond du Lac, WI. They moved twice where he helped to set up clinics in his specialty. Mauro had a quirky sense of humor. He liked to collect penguins and was known to "walk" his penguin on a stick, wearing his penguin pants on Christmas morning, while making rounds in the hospital. Mauro and Becky eventually came back home to Indianapolis. He was still practicing medicine and had no desire to retire. His bedside manner is what you want in your doctor and his patients will also miss him.
Mauro was preceded in death by his wife, Becky and his parents. He is survived by his daughter, Jessica; his brothers: Anthony, Vincent (Barbara), and David; his nieces, Tess and Alyssa; great nieces and nephews; and his three beloved cats. Mauro's wishes were always not to make a large event of his death. A small open house will be held later.
A donation can be made to the Owen County Humane Society in Spencer, Indiana or the Humane Society of Indianapolis.
