Maureen Nwamaka Nwokedi, a remarkable woman of unwavering dedication, boundless love, and an unshakable work ethic, peacefully passed away on September 11, 2023, at 67. She leaves a legacy that warms the hearts of all who had the privilege of knowing her.

Born in Nigeria, Maureen began her journey in education as a teacher, a role she embraced with passion and commitment. Her determination led her to become an Education Officer in Anambra State, Nigeria, where she impacted the lives of countless students, shaping their futures with her wisdom and guidance.

Maureen embarked on a life-changing journey to America in March of 2001 to pursue brighter horizons for herself and her beloved family. Alongside her husband and four cherished sons, she settled in Indianapolis, Indiana, and ventured into the healthcare field, demonstrating the same unwavering dedication she had shown throughout her life.

Maureen was a true matriarch, a loving mother, grandmother, and wife. Her love for her children knew no bounds, and this love extended seamlessly to her cherished grandchildren, who were the apples of her eyes. She was not only a mother to her immediate family but also a guiding light and a pillar of strength to her extended family. Her home was always open, her heart always welcoming.

Maureen's love and devotion were not confined to her immediate family alone. She had a special place in her heart for her siblings, offering support, encouragement, and unconditional love throughout her life.

Maureen Nwamaka Nwokedi is survived by her husband, Ugonabo Akunnia George Obiozor Nwokedi; her four children, Ononenyi Ifeanyi Nwokedi, Azubike Nwokedi, Pastor Chike Nwokedi, Onyeka Nwokedi whose lives she enriched with love and wisdom, her loving daughters-in-laws, Chinazo Victoria Nwokedi, Sibo Nwokedi, Chinazor Nwokedi,  her adoring grandchildren Ifeoma Nwokedi, Zyon Nwokedi, Onyemaechi Nwokedi, Somto Nwokedi, Chiamaka Nwokedi, Nwamaka Nwokedi, Chinwe Nwokedi, Kossi Nwokedi, Ifunanaya Nwokedi, Ifeanyi Nwokedi, Jr., Ife (Nneo) Nwokedi, Onyinyechukwu Nwokedi, her sisters, Josephine Igweike, Uju Egwuatu, Vivian Osaji, her brothers, Charles ‘Bomboy’ Osaji, Michael Osaji, her niece, Onyema Adibuah, and her nephew, Ofili Adibuah.

The loss of Maureen leaves a void in the lives of many, but her memory will forever be cherished. Her legacy of love, hard work, and dedication will continue to inspire and guide us all.

In the tapestry of life, Maureen Nwamaka Nwokedi's thread was woven with love, resilience, and unwavering commitment to family. She will be dearly missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her, but her memory will live on in our hearts forever.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, November 11, 2023, 12:00pm-2:00pm, with the funeral service 2:00pm-4:00pm all at Flanner Buchanan Decatur Township 5463 Kentucky Ave. Indianapolis, Indiana. Maureen will be laid to rest in her beloved Onitsha, Nigeria, where her spirit will find eternal peace.
