Matthew Charles Bolton, 52, of Zionsville died January 17, 2012 after a courageous battle with cancer. He was born on December 3, 1959 to the late Ronald Kent and Mary Ann (Knoblock) Bolton in Bremen, Indiana. Matt was a graduate of Snider High School in Ft. Wayne, and received a BS in Business in 1982 from Indiana University. After passing his CPA exam, Matt spent 8 years in Oil and Gas Revenue Accounting for ARCO and TXO before switching to pharmaceutical sales in 1990. He was employed by G. D. Searle and retired from Merck as a Business Manager. Matt married Karen Dombroski on November 3, 1984.
Matt loved hiking and vacationing in national parks with his family, and had visited every major National Park in the United States, including Alaska and Hawaii, plus British Columbia and Alberta, Canada. He authored and published two books, "The Concise Visitors Guide to Yosemite" (2009) and "The Concise Visitors Guide to Yellowstone."(2010). His national park Facebook page, "National Parks 101" allowed him to connect with other park lovers while sharing his wealth of information.
Matt's yard was his passion, but he was also an avid Indy Car and NASCAR fan. Matt loved attending any sporting events in which his children, Brent and Morgan were involved, and spending time with his family.
Matt is survived by his wife, Karen, and children Brent A. and Morgan N. Bolton. Although he was an only child, Matt was very close to his aunt, uncle, cousins, and all of his in-laws, who will greatly miss him.
