Marylou Langley

Marylou Langley 94, of Indianapolis, passed away October 25, 2013. Marylou was born September 18, 1919, to the late Berthal and Garnet (Hardin) Powers. Marylou spent much of her early life traveling with her parents and younger brother Brooks before settling in Indianapolis. She graduated with honors in three-and-a-half years from Arsenal Technical High School, and served as editor of the school newspaper, The Arsenal Cannon. Marylou was very active in many different areas, including serving as the American Red Cross Residential Chairman of the city of Indianapolis in the 1950s, being a charter member of the 500 Festival Associates, and as a fashion, photography and television model for L.S. Ayres. She was an active member at Third Christian Church. Marylou is survived by her daughter Judy Nichols; step-daughter Barbara Shepard; and step-son Carl F. Langley Jr. (Kathy). She is also survived by eight grandchildren, 24 great-grandchildren, and three great great-grandchildren, and one niece and two nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Carl F. Langley Sr., and brother Brooks Powers. Funeral Services will be Thursday, October 31, at 1 pm at Flanner and Buchanan – Broad Ripple 1305 East Broad Ripple Ave. Visitation will be at 11 am until the time of service. Memorial Contributions can be made to the Salvation Army, 711 East Washington Street Indianapolis, IN 46202 or the American Red Cross, 441 E 10th St. Indianapolis, IN 46202.
