Mary Smith

Mary "Dorothy"Smith 94, resided at Marquette Manor in Indianapolis, formerly lived in Windridge Condiminiums, Indianapolis, Arlington, TX and South Bend, IN, died Wednesday, April 3, 2013. She was born May 18, 1918 in Loogootee, IN to the late Emil S. and Bernadette Dooley Norris. Dorothy graduated from the St. Vincent School of Nursing in 1940 and is a member of their Nurses Alumni Assoc. She was an Army Veteran (1st Lieutenant) of WWII serving in Central Europe. Dorothy married David Van Hoy Smith on January 3, 1946. He preceded her in death on July 19, 2005. She is survived by sons Dr. James R. (Carole),Kalamazoo, MI, David N. (Pamela), Brownsburg, IN and Daniel T. (Debra) Smith, Fishers, IN; grandchildren Brian (Lauren), Eric (Tali), Laura, Kayla, Kelsey and Kevin Smith; brothers George and Donald Norris. A funeral Mass will be held Wednesday, April 10 at 10:00AM in Christ the King Catholic Church, 5884 Crittenden Ave., of which she was a member. Friends may call Tuesday, April 9 from 4 to 7 PM at Flanner and Buchanan-Broad Ripple, 1305 East Broad Ripple Ave. Entombment will follow in Our Lady of Peace Cemetery.
