Mary Flo Rogers passed into God's hands on Saturday, March 24, 2012, at the age of 83. She was born on May 14, 1928 in Alexandria, Louisiana to Paul David and Mary Flo White. She graduated from Bolton High School, where she was involved in various clubs and activities, including Civil Air Patrol (like so many of her generation, she was profoundly affected by WW II).
Flo will always be remembered by her family and friends as the kind, loving, gentle woman that she was. Her children and family were her top priorities. Throughout her life she maintained an optimistic view of life; in that regard, she remained and will be remembered as forever young. She was joyful, delightful and happy. She was a best friend and such a wonderful mother—truly the "gold standard". Her children were, and are, so blessed to have been given the gift of her as their mother.
Flo was a talented artist. Her oil paintings won numerous awards and are held in private collections across the country.
In the last few years, she had become enthusiastic about exercise and realized both the physical and psychological benefits of it. She worked out three days a week in the cardiac rehab department at the Heart Hospital next to Community North. She thoroughly enjoyed the experience and the new friends she met there.
Flo was married for over 56 years to Ben F. Rogers, Jr., who passed away on April 20, 2009. She is survived by her daughter, Rhonda Kearns (Bill), and son, Ben F. Rogers III (Alexis), as well as her grandchildren, Kristen, David, and Michael Kearns, Brad and Matt Rogers, and Demi and Kara Rogers.
Flo was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, her son, Byron D. Rogers, and her brother, Paul David White, Jr.
We would like to thank the very caring, concerned and nurturing staff of the 2nd floor at Community North Hospital for their sincere efforts and kind understanding with Flo during her final days. Your warmth and empathy made her last weeks gentler for her and her family.
Family and friends are invited to say their final goodbyes Thursday, March 29, 2012 at Holy Spirit at Geist Catholic Church. The viewing will be from 10:30 to 11:30, followed by Mass. She will be interred at Oaklawn Memorial Gardens in Fishers.
You are invited to go to the Guest Book page to pass along your personal message or tell a story.
Sincerely,
-Your friends at Flanner and Buchanan
