Mary Ripperger

Mary Loraine Gates Ripperger, affectionately known as "Gaga" by her family, passed away Monday morning, March 12, 2012 at her home in Zionsville, Indiana; she was 65. Mary was born May 20, 1946 in Cincinnati, Ohio to Elmer and Ida Gates; her father preceded her in death. Mary will be fondly remembered for her passion for life and her dedication in caring for her family. She loved being a wife, mother, and especially "Gaga". Mary also enjoyed life's simple pleasures like scrapbooking, crafts, and cross stitching. Her presence will be forever treasured and truly missed. Mary is survived by her husband, Steven Ripperger, M.D.; her children, Laura Geske (Doug), Douglas Ripperger (Trisha), Lisa Barthuly (Ken), Elizabeth Pishkur (Jody), and Anne Maslanka (Ted). She is also survived by her mother, Ida L. Gates; her grandchildren, Madelyn, Steven, Julia, Henry aka "Batman", George, Emily, Kate, Lainey, Olivia, and Charles; her brothers, James Gates, Kenneth Gates, Christopher Gates, Gregory Gates, and Anthony Gates; her sisters, Regina Rovito, Rebecca Schneider, Karen Lynskey; her mother-in-law, Viola Ripperger; and several nieces, nephews, and cousins. Visitation will be from 4-8 pm, Thursday, March 15, 2012 at Thomas-Justin Memorial Funeral Home, 7500 Montgomery Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45236. A Mass of the Resurrection will be celebrated 11 am Friday, March 16, 2012 at St. John the Evangelist Catholic Church, 7121 Plainfield Rd., Cincinnati, OH 45236 with visitation from 9 am until service time. Burial will follow at Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Cincinnati. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
