Mary Riner Churchman

Mary Riner Churchman, 72, of Indianapolis, passed away peacefully surrounded by her loving family on, Saturday, September 17, 2016. She was born on June 15, 1944 to the late Keifer and Helen (Bolly) Riner in Indianapolis, IN. Mary graduated from Arsenal Technical High School, class of 1962. She attended Ball State University. Up until the last few years Mary ran her own bridal consultant business and was a newspaper columnist writing a wedding advice column, known as “ASK THE BRIDE LADY”, for several newspapers in the New England area. She also was the author of several wedding books along with a Wedding Consultant Training Program Correspondence course. In addition, she also wrote a book titled “Breathing Room, How I Quit Smoking and Lost weight”. She is a past president of the Tech Alumni Association and also was awarded the Hanson N. Anderson award from Arsenal Technical High School. Prior to her illness, Mary loved to play the piano. She was very much the animal lover and loved her cat “Calli”.
Mary is survived by her loving husband of 51 years C. Albert Churchman, Jr.; daughter Teresa Churchman Johnson (Mike), grandsons; Michael E. Johnson III, Benjamin Gordon Johnson and Mitchell Colton Johnson (whom she loved dearly), her brother Dr. Jack K. Riner (Toni), her twin sister Marilyn Riner Cooke (Fred); nieces Jackie Riner Langford (Tom), Diane Riner Berry (Robert), Susan Vogt Hunter (Rob), Kelli Cooke Green (Bill); nephews Donald G. Riner (Joann), John Riner (Ashley), Randy Riner (Molly), Charles B. Vogt III, Scott Cooke (Melissa); also 14 great nieces and nephews. Friends may call from 5:30 pm until 8:30 pm, on Monday, September 26, 2016, at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, Indianapolis, Indiana. Funeral services will be held at Flanner and Buchanan-Washington Park East, at 11:00 am on Tuesday, September 27, 2016. Burial will follow her services in Washington Park East Cemetery.
