Mary R. Engelking

March 18, 1926 — December 18, 2013

Mary R. Engelking, 87 of Indianapolis, IN passed away at home on December 18, 2013. She was born at home March 18, 1926 in Indianapolis to Floyd and Georgia Leonard Rose. She met her husband, Raymond O. Engelking at the Riverside Skating Rink on the west side of Indianapolis and they were married June 20, 1948. Mary and Ray loved to travel, going to Canada, Mexico, the Caribbean Islands, Europe and 49 of the 50 states. They missed Alaska. She especially loved going to St. Pete Beach, Florida where she made good friends with several of the other travelers that came from various places to the Bon Aire Motel during the same week in July for over 25 years. She was the Office Manager for Community Orthopedics for thirty years before retiring in 1990. She was a member of the Irvington Chapter of the Order of the Eastern Star and a life-long member of the Glendale and Southside Seventh Day Adventist Churches. She loved to bowl and roller skate but most of all, she adored her grandchildren and great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, and surviving to cherish her memory is her son and daughter-in-law, Donald and Deborah Engelking of Indianapolis, grandson, Matthew (Diane) Engelking of Greenwood, Indiana, Granddaughter, Rebekka (Bryan) Poulsen, of McLean, Virginia, great-grandchildren, Isaac, Jacob, Asher, Rachel and Nathanael Engelking of Greenwood, Indiana, sister, Ruth (James) Vernon of Chico, California, several nieces and nephews and special friends Leo and Joyce Osborn and family. A special thanks to Comfort Keepers of Columbus, Indiana and People First Hospice. They laughed at her witty personality which she kept until the end and they made her final days easy and comfortable.
