Mary Lois Poole, 88, Indianapolis, passed away peacefully in her sleep and went to be with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ on February 22, 2015.
Mary Lois was born in Indianapolis on July 5, 1926, to the late Walter Wright and Ellen (Lanham) Wright. She was raised and lived in Indianapolis all her life. She was married to the late Jesse Mervin Poole on August 30, 1947. He preceded her in passing on December 26, 2010, after 63 years of marriage. Oh how they loved each other! They traveled extensively both domestically and internationally and enjoyed the company of friends and family.
Mary Lois attended Hanover College and then began a long career in the tax department at Eli Lilly. She retired in 1981 after 36 years of service. She loved chocolate and sunflowers and a stray cat named Mooch. She was an active member of Tabernacle Presbyterian Church and the Republican Party.
She was loved and cherished by her family: not only her parents, husband, and sister, but also three generations of nieces and nephews.
Mary Lois and Jay were blessed with many great friends and neighbors around their Kessler Boulevard home and from Tabernacle Presbyterian Church. Her friendships and memories of life on Kessler Boulevard always brought a smile to her face and love to her heart! Her strong faith in Christ carried her along life's journey.
She is survived by her sister, Bettylou Strickland, Indianapolis; her niece, Jeanne (Charles) Duncan, Marion; two nephews, Lee (Sandy) Cunningham, Spencer, and Gary Cunningham, Spencer; and a cousin, Mary Elizabeth Boone, Utah.
Private services are planned for a later date. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Tabernacle Presbyterian Church, Wheeler Mission, or to Heifer International.
