Mary B. Nicodemus

October 19, 1946 — December 8, 2023

Indianapolis, Indiana

Mary B. Nicodemus, a beloved resident of Indianapolis, passed away on Friday, December 8, 2023, surrounded by her loving family. Born on October 19, 1946, in Indianapolis to the late Michael F. and Alice H. O'Grady, Mary's life was marked by the connections she made and the impact she had on those around her. She graduated from Marquette University in 1968 and remained a proud Warrior throughout her lifetime.

Mary was a member of St. Luke Catholic Church, where she attended services and volunteered for many years. She also worked in Campus Ministry and Community Service at Brebeuf,  making many friends while dedicating herself in service to others. In addition to her commitments, Mary embraced an active and vibrant lifestyle. She found joy in activities such as bowling, pickleball, and traveling, always seeking new adventures. An avid reader, she cherished the power of literature to transport and inspire.

A funeral Mass in honor of Mary will be held on Monday, December 18, at 11:30 am at St. Luke Catholic Church, where family and friends are invited to gather in the Courtney Room from 9:30 am until the time of service.

Mary is survived by her loving husband, Terry, and her children, Beth N. (husband, Randy) Lowe, Sean P. Nicodemus, and Lisa A. Nicodemus. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren, Lillian A. and Shea E. Lowe, as well as her brother, Jeremiah O’Grady. While mourning her loss, we also remember Mary's son, Jeff A. Nicodemus, her brother, John O'Grady, and her sister, Margaret O'Grady, who preceded her in death. May Mary's memory be a source of comfort and solace to all who knew and loved her.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to The Susan G. Komen Foundation.
