Mary "Mimi" Carmel Cox

In celebration of a life well lived.
Mary Carmel Bauer Cox, 92 of Indianapolis, Indiana passed away
peacefully on May 29, 2023 at Spring Mill Meadows Rehabilitation
Center. Mary was born on May 5, 1931 in Louisville, Kentucky to
Mary Connaughton Bauer and Leo David Bauer. She lost her older
brother, Eugene when she was 2 years old and then her father
when she was only 7, but she grew up surrounded by the love of
her mother, three brothers and many close relatives. In high school,
she attended Presentation Academy in Louisville, and then went on
to pursue a degree at Ursuline College. Mary married Clyde Cox on
December 29, 1956 and they had a loving relationship for over 66
years.
Mary enjoyed gardening, cooking, traveling, visiting with family and
friends, throwing and attending many parties and events, and she was
always looking to help those in need. She was involved in a number
of charities. In particular she was a founding member of the
Highlands Court establishment.
While her two children were growing up, she also became a
realtor/broker and worked for many years for Tom Ransdell Realty
and Paul Semonin Realty in Louisville. She was named to the
Louisville Board of Realtors Million Dollar Club several times. After
spending most of their lives in Louisville, she and Clyde moved
permanently to Naples, Florida in 2008 where they enjoyed the
warm sunshine and made many new friends. In 2020, Mary and
Clyde moved to Indianapolis, Indiana to be closer to family.
Mary was “Mimi” to seven grandchildren: Erin, Keri, Kathryn, Kevin,
Michael, Brian and John, and eight great-grandchildren: Mackenzie,
Finn, Knox, Averie, Declan, Lila, Ridley and Piper. She was
preceded in death by her parents and her brothers Eugene Bauer,
Leo Bauer, Ray Bauer and Louis Bauer. She is survived by her
loving husband Clyde, her children Mike (Sue) Cox, Hoschton, GA
and Carol(Tim) Eisenhut, Indianapolis, IN, her sister-in-law, Pam
(Ernie) Day, Crab Orchard, KY, and several nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, June 4th at Flanner Buchanan-Zionsville
from 3:00 pm to 6:00 pm with a rosary at 6 pm. On Monday, June 5th, at St. Monica
Catholic Church, 6131 North Michigan Road, Indianapolis, IN. with visitation from 10 to 11 am with a funeral mass to follow at 11 am.
There will be an inurnment and graveside service at 10:00 am on
Tuesday, June 6th at Calvary Cemetery, Louisville, Kentucky.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to Presentation
