Mary Pat Meyer, age 69, of Carmel passed away on Friday, November 29, 2024. She was born on February 15, 1955 in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Carl J. Meyer and Elizabeth (Belland) Meyer.
Mary enjoyed a very successful career at IBM for over 25 years. After retirement, Mary often volunteered at a local food bank and also became a Master Gardener. She loved working on outdoor projects and creating landscape beds with beautiful flowers. A very surprising decision for Mary was when she became a bus driver for handicapped students at Carmel Schools. Although she enjoyed helping the children and getting to know their families, this position required her to be at the Carmel bus barn at 5:30 am and she so disliked everything about Indiana winters and the freezing temperatures! But she never gave up and drove that bus schedule for more than 4 years.
Mary was always energetic and on the go. She loved baking, cooking, and hosted many wonderful holiday meals. After her father passed, she took wonderful care of her mother for over 30 years. Her life became extraordinary difficult when a diagnosis of Early Onset Dementia Alzheimer's Disease was confirmed in her early sixties. Within a short period of time, she lost her mobility and even her ability to converse.
Mary was preceded in passing by her father Carl J. Meyer, her mother Elizabeth L. Meyer, and her brother, Mark C. Meyer.
She is survived by her two nephews, Jonathan Meyer and Alex (Megan) Meyer; and her sister-in-law Anita Meyer.
She will be dearly missed by all who loved her but are comforted by knowing that all her burdens have been lifted, and her unbreakable spirit is free.
