Mary Margaret Wolbert Lund died peacefully on January 15, 2013 in her residence at Autumn Glen after an extended battle with congestive heart failure. She was born November 5, 1924 in Springfield, Ohio and married Robert Lee Lund in 1944. They had nine children who survive: Tom (Margaret), Bob (Susie), Jim (Connie), Bill (Donna), John, MaryAnn (Tim) Barkes, Don (Kim), Donna (Mike) Stearley, and Patrick Lund. She is also survived by her sister, Jean McCaslin, 17 grandchildren, 16 great grandchildren, and a number of cousins, nieces, and nephews. Her husband preceded her in death in 1993. She was also preceded in death by her parents Stephen and Helen Wolbert and two brothers, Denny Wolbert and John Wolbert. Mary graduated from St. Mary's Academy, and had a wonderful career, working in several occupations, while also taking time to raise a family of nine children. She held various positions in manufacturing, banking, insurance and medicine and worked as a computer programmer/analyst at the Finance Center at Ft. Benjamin Harrison, where she retired in 1987 after 21 years of service. Mary was always active in her community, participating in the Lawrence bowling league and the Heather Hills golf league. She was a volunteer for years at Riley Children's Hospital, and Meals on Wheels. She also was an active member of the Silvertones. She was a long time member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church. Mary dearly loved her family and friends, and her dogs. For years, there was a Sunday gathering at her home, so the family could get together on a regular basis. She always found ways to let people know she cared for them, and that they were special. She worked to provide endless activities and projects for those around her. She enjoyed many family trips to Florida and Las Vegas, and often planned outings for various groups. She loved her garden, scratch off lottery tickets and was a loyal backer of the Pacers, Colts, and Jeff Gordon. A special thanks to Autumn Glen staff and Community Home Health hospice for their care and attention during her illness. Visitation will be held on Thursday, January 17th, 2013 from 4-8 PM at Flanner and Buchanan- Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington Street, with a prayer service at 7:00 PM. Prayers will be held at the funeral home on Friday, January 18, 2013 at 9:30 AM at the funeral home, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 AM at Holy Spirit Catholic Church, 7243 E. 10th St., Indianapolis, Indiana, with Father John McCaslin, her nephew, presiding. Interment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial gifts may be made to St. Vincent de Paul Food Pantry or Gleaners Food Bank.
