Mary Lou Mccullough

Mary Louise “Mary Lou” McCullough, 95, passed away on June 29, 2023, in Indianapolis, Indiana. She was born on August 28, 1927, in Linton, Indiana, to the late Reverend Charles and Carrie McCullough.

Mary Lou is a graduate of Arsenal Technical High School in Indianapolis. She was employed as a secretary for Eli Lilly and Company for over 40 years.

Music was one of her hobbies and she had a talent for playing both the piano and organ. She researched her genealogy going back many generations and kept her ever-growing family records current. Mary Lou loved to travel both in the United States and foreign countries; she always had a pet from a rescue society; and, she was active in her church, Roberts Park Methodist, until her health would not permit it. Mary was an avid Indiana Pacer fan and attended their games for many seasons. Mary was instrumental in organizing and funding large multi-day family reunions and was the matriarch of the descendants of her brothers and sisters. Mary Lou loved the circus as a child and as an adult, she would take her nieces and nephews to experience the circus whenever one came to town.

Mary Lou is survived by her 14 nieces and nephews; 33 great nieces and nephews; 50 great great nieces and nephews; and 3 great great great nieces and nephews.

Mary Lou is preceded in passing by her siblings, Robert, Randall, Duane, Verne, Howard, Paul, and Frances; and 3 nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Saturday, July 8, from 12 to 1 pm, with a Service to follow at 1 pm, at Flanner Buchanan – Broad Ripple, 1305 Broad Ripple Avenue. A Burial will follow at Crown Hill Cemetery.
