Mary Lucille Cosby passed away on August 8, 2023 after a short illness. Mary was born on December 21, 1945 in Danville, Kentucky. She graduated from Paint Lick High School and studied elementary education at Eastern Kentucky University and University of Kentucky. She met the love of her life at EKU at the age of 18, Ronald Cosby, and they were married in 1965. Mary earned Masters degrees in Computer Science and in Elementary Education (with speed reading enhancement) from Ball State University.

They lived in Richmond, Kentucky initially, moving to Tallahassee, Florida and Lexington, Kentucky for short periods of time. They moved to Muncie, Indiana where they lived for 47 years relocating to Fishers, Indiana in 2017 to be closer to family.

Mary began working as a teacher in speed reading and as an elementary school teacher in her early years. She later worked at Ball State University in Computing Services in various roles advancing quickly through the years into becoming the Director of Information Systems for Business Affairs finishing her career and retiring in 2011.

Mary enjoyed traveling and she and Ron had many adventures all over the United States and the world. She enjoyed playing games from bocce to Mexican trains to Azul. She loved her flowers, hummingbirds, and sitting in the sunshine. Her kids and grandchildren were the joy of her life and she had a special place in her heart for each one of them.

Mary is survived by her loving husband of 58 years Ronald Cosby, her three children and their families: Cathy Cosby Yoder (daughter), her husband Michael Yoder and their son Kyle; Ron Cosby (son), his wife Robin Grant Cosby, their son Alex and daughter Kjerstin; Jennifer Cosby Fehlinger (daughter), her partner Rick Hughes, and her daughters Samantha and Mia and sons Drew and Riley. Mary is also survived by her sister, Margaret Bolton and her husband Kenny Bolton of Garrard County, KY.

She was preceded in death by her parents Joe and Stella Maupin, her brother Joe Maupin, and her granddaughter Megan Marie Yoder.

Memorial contributions may be made to the the Megan Marie Yoder Foundation for Sustainability.

A celebration of her life will be held at the Villa of Britton Falls, 16485 Del Webb Parkway, Fishers IN 46037 from 2:00pm – 5:00pm on Sunday, Aug 13, 2023. Ron asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to the Megan Marie Yoder Foundation for Sustainability. A Donation box will be provided at the Celebration or checks can be mailed to ℅ Ron Cosby, 16307 Sangria Court, Fishers IN 46037.
