Mary Kathryn Trent (Kreeck) was born on September 28, 1920in Merriam, Kansas to John E. and Annabel Kreeck. She went to be with our Lord in her eternalhome on December 23, 2015. She waspreceded in death by her parents and her two brothers.
Mary Kathryn was a beautiful and talented lady and was lovedby everyone who knew her. She and herhusband of 76 years eloped on Valentine’s Day, February 14, 1939. On August 22, 1941, her husband enlisted inthe Army Air Corp. She traveled withhim. When she was expecting their firstchild, her husband was sent overseas so she lived with her parents. Her husband was a pilot and named his plane“Lucky Kay’, a reference to her middle name, “Kathryn”.
Her careers were varied. She worked as a telephone operator in Merriam, Kansas, as a 6thgrade teacher in New Orleans, Louisiana, and as a Sales Associate at JC Penneyin Indianapolis, Indiana. She was amember of the Daughters of the American Revolution, Old Bethel United MethodistChurch, and the Clowes Women’s Society. She also served as a Bluebird Leader and later as a Campfire GirlsLeader.
After her husband’s retirement, together, they made and soldminiature houses and toys. Her husbandbuilt them and she painted them. They travelled to many art events, sellingtheir miniatures. These became so popular that they soon found themselvestaking orders for them.
They loved to travel and visited Hawaii and the majority ofthe 48 contiguous states. She led a fulland rewarding life.
She will be sadly missed and always loved by her husband of76 years, Eugene R. Trent, her children, Judy Apple-VanAlstine (Mel), Jean Anne Power (Phil), and John Trent, hergrandchildren, Dawn Apple, Sean Apple, Bill Power (Sallie), and Jennifer Wright(John), her great grandchildren, her great-great grandchildren, and a number ofnieces and nephews.
Mary Kathryn’s Celebration of Life will be held on Monday,December 28, 2015 at Flanner andBuchanan – Washington Park East , 10722 East Washington Street,Indianapolis, Indiana. Visitation willbe from 11:00-1:00, with the service following at 1:00.
