Mary "Kathryn" Ryan, 89, a beloved figure in the lives of many, passed away peacefully on June 10, 2025, in Mooresville, Indiana. The youngest of four children, she was born on July 1, 1935, in Thompkinsville, Kentucky. Kathryn lived a full life dedicated to her passions and her family, spending the majority of her life in Indiana.
Throughout her career, Kathryn made significant contributions as a circuit board technician for Naval Avionics. This role highlighted her strong work ethic and meticulous attention to detail, attributes that she carried into every aspect of her life.
Kathryn was known for her adventurous spirit and creativity. She loved to travel, visiting places like the Hoover Dam, Branson, Dale Hollow and other destinations. She also enjoyed going on bus tours and Christian retreats with cherished friends. Kathryn enjoyed painting and crafting, often expressing her creativity through various mediums. Music was another of her great joys, and she often found solace in hymns and church. Dining out and spending quality time with family and friends were among her favorite pastimes.
A strong and independent woman, Kathryn was also a fun and loving aunt. She loved to spend time with her nieces and nephews, leaving lasting memories of laughter and joy from all the many times spent together. Her profound influence on her nieces is a testament to her Christian values and love for family.
Kathryn is survived by her many nieces and nephews; grand, great-grand and great-great grand nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her loving parents, John and Julia Ryan; her sister, Pauline Conkin; brothers, Cordell and Ray Ryan; nephews, Martin Ryan, James Basey and Ronald Basey; great niece, April Raker and great-great nephew Jarrod Polston.
Visitation and funeral services will be held on June 16, 2025, at Flanner Buchanan-Washington Park East in Indianapolis, Indiana. The visitation will take place from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM, followed by a funeral service beginning at 3:00 PM. She will be laid to rest in Washington Park East Cemetery.
Mary "Kathryn" Ryan will be profoundly missed by all who had the pleasure of knowing her. Her spirit, kindness, and zest for life will continue to inspire those she leaves behind.
