Mary Jane Jones, 81, passed away peacefully on March 14, 2015. Born on February 11, 1934, Mary was preceded in death by her parents John and Jenny Napariu; brothers John Napariu and George Napariu; and husband of over 48 years, James Jones.
Mary is survived by her children Jennie (Allen) McKee, James Jones, John Jones, & Joseph (Lori) Jones; 6 grandchildren; and 6 great-grandchildren. Two sisters-in-law and multiple nieces and nephews also survive.
A life-long resident of Indianapolis, Mary graduated from Arsenal Technical High School in 1951. She worked at multiple places during her career, but by far, her longest and favorite job was at Blocks at Washington Square Mall as a sales clerk in the linen department. She helped open the store in 1974 and stayed there until - and even after - the store closed and transition to Montgomery Ward.
She was a past member of the Saints Constantine & Elena Romanian Orthodox Church, Cumberland Eastern Star Lodge and Moose Lodge #17. She enjoyed jelly doughnuts from Hart bakery; watching IU and Pacers basketball; watching Notre Dame football; and trips to the casino. But more than anything, she enjoyed being with her family.
In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations to any charitable fund in her memory. Some that were close to Mary include: St. Jude's Children Research Hospital, Riley Children Foundation, Saints Constantine & Elena Romanian Orthodox Church, and most recently, The Gathering Together. Donation and/or contact information for these organizations can be found online.
