Mary Jane Held

Mary Jane Held age 64, of Fishers passed away on September 2, 2011. She was born on August 7, 1947 to the late Frederick and Lilly June (Miller) Held in Indianapolis, Indiana. She graduated from Indiana University with a master degree in education. Mary worked as a teacher in the Carmel Clay school system for 30 years at Orchard Park, Woodbrooke and Cherry Tree elementary schools. She was a member of New Hope Presbyterian Church where she was active with Dinners for Eleven, a women's group called Love and small groups that met every Monday evening, Red Hat Society and Honorary Teachers Sorority Alpha Delta Kappa. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends her brother Frederick and his wife Ardella, her special aunt Mary Thomas, Mary's nephew Ryan and niece Lindsay and husband Gary Gardner. Mary is also survived by numerous cousins, her loyal dog Riley and her dear friends Marillyn Gwinn and Terry Browning. Mary's family and friends would like to thank the staff at Senior Care One and also her Doctors. Funeral services will be held on Wednesday September 7, 2011 at 11:00 am at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center –Carmel, where friends and family are invited to gather on Tuesday, September 6, from 4-8 pm. Burial will be held at Crown Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the American Cancer Society or the New Hope Presbyterian Library Fund 12550 Brooke School Rd.
