Mary Jane Gard Koch

86, of Indianapolis, passed away Thursday, March10, 2016. Mary Jane was born onSeptember 3, 1929 in Indianapolis to the late Mary Elizabeth Ward and RusselTyner Gard. She attended Purdue University and completed her masters degree inHigher Education Administration from Indiana University in 1985.

She worked at IUPUI from 1974 until herretirement in 1996. For the last ten years, Mary Jane was the director of theOffice for Gerontolgy, establishing the office and working to set up andcoordinate a certificate program in Gerontology. She was honored at herretirement with the Sagamore of the Wabash award from the governor for her workand dedication to this field and work with the Indiana Board of Health forcreating the rules and regulations that govern the state's nursing and eldercare facilities.

The funeral service will be held at St. Paul'sEpiscopal Church on March 15th, wherefamily and friends are invited to gather from 10:00am until the time of theservice at 12:00pm.

Mary Jane is survived by her son Paul D. Koch,daughter Susan D. Koch and grandsons Jeffrey and Jeremy McClure. We love you Nanny!

Entombment at Washington Park North Cemetery.
