Mary Jane Chafin

October 19, 1927 — February 6, 2012

Mary Jane Chafin 84, Fishers, went to be with her Lord on February 6, 2012. Mary Jane was a member of the Royal Neighbors Lodge and Rebekah Lodge in Lawrence, Order of the Eastern Star, and Carmel Lutheran Church. She was a musician and enjoyed poetry, paper dolls, embroidering, her dogs and cats and boating. Mary Jane attended the civil police academy and served with the Carmel and Fishers Police Auxillary. She is survived by her children, Harriet (Blaine) Burns, Aron Bruce (Delana) Chafin and Bart (Theresa) Chafin; 15 grandchildren, 35 great grandchildren and four great-great grandchildren; sisters, Carol Stevens and Nancy Seward. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 49 years, Harris M. Chafin. Services for Mary Jane will be at 10 a.m. on Saturday, February 11, 2012 at Carmel Lutheran Church, 4850 E. 131st St., with visitation from 4 to 8 p.m. on Friday, February 10 at the church. Entombment will be in Washington Park East Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Carmel Lutheran Church in memory of Mary Jane.
