Mary Lou Goar, 91, passed away Monday, July 9, 2012 at Zionsville Meadows, in Zionsville, Indiana. She had been a resident there for four years. She was born on May 6, 1921 in Grayville, Illinois, the daughter of Myrtle Edith Crowder (Hampton) Ramsey and Benjamin Franklin Ramsey. She graduated from Grayville High School as the valedictorian of the Class of 1939. She then graduated from Southern Illinois Normal Teacher's College (now Southern Illinois University) in 1943 with a B.A. in sociology, and from Ball State University in 1968 with an M.A. in journalism. She taught English and journalism at Frankfort Junior and Senior High Schools from 1961 until her retirement in 1983. After her retirement, she traveled extensively throughout the United States, as well as Europe, Majorca, and the former Soviet Union. Her favorite travel destination was the island of Santorini in Greece. She is survived by daughter Debbie (Mike) Beigh of Zionsville, son Bob (Janet), also of Zionsville, and grandsons Matthew Goar of Chicago, Illinois, and Patrick Goar of Arlington, Virginia. She was a member of First Evangelical Presbyterian Church, Happy Time Club, Beta Epsilon chapter of Tri Kappa, Frankfort Country Club, and the Frankfort Educational Association. Memorial contributions made be made to the Zionsville Little League, P. O. Box 544 , Zionsville, IN 46077. **A Celebration of Life will be held August 31, 2012 from 4:30 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Flanner and Buchanan - Zionsville, 105 W. Pine Street, Zionsville, IN 46077.
