Mary G. "Doll" (Fassnacht) Thomson 93, of Speedway, IN, passed away on Wednesday, August 14, 2013. She was born on March 22, 1920 in Lafayette, IN to Louis Michael and Mary Louise (Metzger) Fassnacht. Mary was a 1938 graduate of St. Francis High school in Lafayette, IN and worked at Purdue University following her graduation. After raising her 7 children, Mary worked at Speedway High School and the Indiana University School of Medicine Library. After her retirement she volunteered at the St. Vincent Hospital Library for several years. Mary was also a volunteer for the White Cross Guild. She was an avid quilter and had been a member of the Hendricks County Quilters Guild. Mary was a 59 year member of St. Christopher Catholic Church in Speedway, IN and enjoyed making contributions to their food pantry. She is survived by her 7 children, Sheryl Leary of Ione, CA, Richard (Kathy) Thomson, Joan Relf, John Thomson of Roswell, GA, Jane (Mark) Marye, Mary Ellen (Joe) Kutcher and Mark (Judy) Thomson; 14 grandchildren, Scott, Jill, Lisa, Erin, Corie, Margo, Kristy, Stephanie, Sarah, Ryan, Kali, Stacy, Mandy and Ann; 15 great-grandchildren, Jaykob, Jayden, Addison, Ethan, Gabe, Ella, Gage, Brix, Natalie, Maddie, Audrey, Kyleigh, Jeffrey, Jaycie and Cosmo. Mary is also survived by her siblings, Helen Bresnahan, Barb Deckard and Walt (Carol) Fassnacht. She was preceded in death by her parents; and 8 siblings, Elizabeth McLaughlin, John "Bill" Fassnacht, Robert "Chub" Fassnacht, William "Shorty" Fassnacht, Joseph Fassnacht, Catherine "Kayte" Butz, Arthur Fassnacht and Marguerite (Myke) Johnson. Visitation will be held at Flanner and Buchanan – Speedway on Sunday, August 18, 2013 from 4-8pm, with a rosary service beginning at 7pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place Monday morning at 11am in St. Christopher Catholic Church with visitation at the church 1 hour prior to the services. Burial will be in St. Boniface Cemetery in Lafayette, IN on Tuesday morning at 11am. Memorial contributions may be given to the St. Christopher Food Pantry.
