Mary F. Newell

Mary Francis Newell, 87, of Nineveh, Indiana, passed away on July 4, 2023. She was born on June 26, 1936, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to parents, Frank E. Brown Sr., and Grace (McCann) Brown).

Mary married Richard Mulford Newell on October 5, 1957, and shared many years together before his untimely passing on June 30, 1970.

She was a member of the Church of the Lakes, in Nineveh, Indiana for many years.

Mary loved her family and friends. Her other great love besides her family, was for any cat or kitten. Whether they were hers, a friend’s, a stranger’s, or even a stray cat in the neighborhood, she loved them all the same.

Mary is survived by her many nephews and nieces, Dale and Molly England, Donn, Carol and Emily Keever, Tom, Mike, Amy, and Becky Lee, Ted and Terry Rollers, Tammy and Bob Barringer, Cathy, Jimmy, and Vonda Brown; and best friend, Kiersten Windhorst.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Newell; parents, Frank and Grace Brown; son, Andy Newell; siblings, Frank E. Brown Jr., Thelma England, Norma Keever, William Brown, Evelyn Barringer and Marjorie Lee.

Visitation for Mary will be from 11am-1pm on Tuesday, July 11, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Washington Park East – 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN 46229, with a funeral service immediately following at 1pm. Entombment will take place at Washington Park East Cemetery.
