Mary Elizabeth Mullins

Mary Elizabeth Mullins, Carmel, passed away Sunday, October 30, 2011 at St. Vincent Hospital in Indianapolis. She fought a rare cancer with courage and grace for eleven years with her beloved husband Michael at her side throughout her illness. Mary was born May 28, 1942 in Chicago, Illinois to Sam and Gwendolyn (Thompson) Lucas, both of whom preceded her in death. Mary was an honor student throughout her school days and graduated from Flower Vocational High School in Chicago in 1961. She then went to work for the Social Security Administration, Chicago Payment Center, where she won several performance awards, including a Region-wide Special Achievement Award in 1987. She retired from SSA in 1995 after 34 years of service. On March 20, 1995 she married Clarence Michael Mullins and moved to Carmel, Indiana where she lived until her death. She is survived by her husband, Michael; Michael's brother, Tad and his wife Ramona and sister, Nancy and their children and grandchildren. Mary was a kind and gentle woman and was much loved by all who knew her. Services will be private.
