Mary Elizabeth Ballard

Mary Elizabeth Ballard, 88, of Indianapolis, IN, was born June 19, 1927 and passed away on September 25, 2015. She was born in Birchtree, Missouri to Tilford and Anna Carrick. Her family moved to Indianapolis when she was a child. She graduated from Arsenal Technical High School. In addition to her parents, Mary is preceded in death by her loving husband, Duard Ballard, Sr., her sister, Sarah Foreman and her brother, Joe Carrick. Surviving to cherish her memory are her children, Duard Ballard, Jr., Dan Ballard, Don Ballard, Mayor Gregory A. (Winnie) Ballard and Mary Ann Morris, her sister, Catherine Phillips, her grandchildren, Kimberly Ballard McKinley, Bradi Ballard Curtis, Brian Ballard, Erica Ballard, Gregory Ballard, Jr., Katy Morris and Kelly Morris and great-grandchildren, Charlie and Colin Ballard and Archie McKinley. After teaching at St. Francis de Sales, she worked as a Media Assistant at IPS for 25 years at Francis Bellamy School 102. Mary was a member of Holy Spirit Catholic Church, the Fatima Council, Downtown Dollies, the Silvertones, the Green Thumb Garden Club and the Red Hat Society. She also served as Vice Precinct Committeewoman for Warren Township Republican Club. She enjoyed gardening and playing cards. Graveside services will be held at 11 AM, Friday, October 2, 2015, at Flanner and Buchanan – Washington Park East, 10722 E. Washington St., Indianapolis.
