Mary Jane Barnes Dye
89 of Indianapolis died February 1, 2011. She was born February 28, 1921 in Indianapolis to her parents Harry and Sally Ferling Barnes. Mary attended Cathedral grade school and graduated from St. Agnes Academy. Mary retired from Eli Lilly and owned and operated J and J Cleaners at the City Market in downtown Indianapolis. She was an active member of St. Andrew’s Catholic Church where she ran the thrift shop and had many other responsibilities. Mary also belonged to the Red Hatters Women’s Club. Mary Jane was an avid Bingo player, playing in games all over the city and was a cat lover. Mary was preceded in death by her husband, John W. Dye, daughter, Shirlee Ann Klinger, sisters, Katherine Elizabeth Barnes Carr, Dorothy Ann Barnes Meyers. She is survived by several nieces and nephews, great nieces and nephews. Calling will be Sunday Feb. 6, 2011 from noon to 4pm at Flanner and Buchanan Funeral Center-Broad Ripple. A Funeral Mass will be 10:00 am Monday Feb. 7 at St. Andrew the Apostle Catholic Church. Burial will be at St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions can be made to St. Andrew’s Catholic Church.
