Mary Ann Stewart

Mary Ann Stewart, 76 of Carmel, passed away Sunday, March 2, 2014. Mary Ann was born June 30, 1937 in Langdon, ND to the late David P. and Mary Ann Kartes. Mary Ann's joy and purpose was to love and guide her family and friends through her dedication to God, her unwavering support and friendship, and her optimistic attitude and unselfish heart. Mary Ann was the volunteer coordinator and activity director at Carmel Care Center and Westfield Village. She worked in the office of Nasser, Smith and Pinkerton Cardiologists. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, its Women's Club and Newcomers Club, the American Women's Club of Oman and the Association of International Women. A funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 am on Friday, March 7 at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, where family and friends are invited to gather from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Thursday, March 6. Mary Ann is survived by her husband, Dennis K. Stewart; daughter, Amy Denise Stewart; sons, Dean (wife, Cindy) Stewart and David (wife, Dr. Susan Cavins-Stewart)Stewart; grandchildren, Sadie, Sarah, Sandra, Dustin, and Grace Stewart; sister, Alice Metzger; brother, Lawrence Kartes. She was preceded in death by her sister, Madeline Metzger, Leslie Kartes, Rev. Fr. Alvin Kartes and Arthur Kartes. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Seton Family Room Fund.
