Mary Rose Alsop

Mary Rose Alsop, 89, of Indianapolis, passed away October 8, 2023.  She was born November 12, 1933, in Indianapolis, the daughter of the late Vernon and Irene (Morsch) Hennessy.  She married her childhood sweetheart, William Alsop Sr. on April 14, 1949.  He preceded her in passing on June 21, 2007, after 58 years of marriage.

Mary was a devout Catholic as her faith was an important part of her character and daily life.  After raising her own children, her caring heart and nurturing spirit led her to operate her own child-care business from her home.  She was a devoted mother, grandma, and GiGi who always prioritized her family.

She is survived by three daughters, Nancy (Larry) Leiner, Pam (Lee) Driggers, and Terri (Dick) Davis; sister-in-law, Eileen Alsop; 9 grandchildren; 19 great grandchildren; and 4 great great grandchildren.  She was preceded in passing by twin infant sons; son, Bill (Betty) Alsop Jr.; three brothers, Jack, Victor, and Thomas Hennessy; and one sister, Aloyse Whitten.

Funeral Mass will be at 10:30 a.m. October 16, 2023, at St. Elizabeth Ann Seton Catholic Church, 10655 Haverstick Road.  Visitation will be from 1:00 p.m. until 3:00 p.m. Sunday, October 15, 2023, at Flanner Buchanan – Carmel, 325 East Carmel Drive.  Memorial contributions may be directed to the National Kidney Foundation of Indiana.
